PC-7 Pilatus
The austrian air force will present its main training aircraft in the static park during the International Sanicole Airshow: the PC-7.
Twelve of these potent trainers are based at the airbase at Zeltweg in the region Steiermark where they form the Airplane training squadron. The PC-7 is a highly successful export for its manufacturer Pilatus and it is used around the world.
The PC-7 entered service with the Austrian air force in 1983 and it main function is pilot training, formation flying training and instrument flight rules training, with the aim of preparing pilots for their operational tasks with other Austrian units, such the Embraer 390 transporter or Eurofighter Typhoon. A state-of-the-art version of the PC-7 is also part of the competition to replace the Belgian Marchetti SF-260s.
Now is your chance to admire the attractive paintscheme applied to the Austrian PC-7s upclose rather than in the air and have a chat with the crew.
