Swedish armed forces AW-109
The Swedish armed forces will contribute a very special guest that is a must-see, appearing at a Belgian show for the first time: the Hkp15, perhaps better known in Belgium as the Agusta A109.
The Swedish armed forces ordered twenty capable Hkp15s in 2001, about 10 years later than Belgium. The helicopter was intended as a stopgap until the NH-90s arrived, but they proved more than up to the tasks they were required to perform, including Search and Rescue and supporting naval missions.
Following the delivery of the NH-90s, the Hkp15s remained in operation with the Swedish Armed Forces Helicopter Wing, a joint unit serving the army, navy and air force. A detachment is assigned to the Air Force but these helicopters can be called upon by any branch.
