IAR-823 Advanced Training Aircraft
The IAR-823 is a military advanced training aircraft that was built in Romania from 1974 to 1983 and served in the ROAF until 1996.
It features a conventional low-wing monoplane design with a retractable tricycle landing gear. The pilot and instructor sit side by side, and two additional seats can be placed in the back.The aircraft is primarily used as a trainer by the Romanian Air Force, typically accommodating a team of two: a student and an instructor seated next to each other. There are also three additional seats available in the rear, allowing for a maximum capacity of five people, including the pilot(s). This configuration can be adapted to accommodate one pilot, a stretcher for an injured person, and a paramedic, or one pilot with 500 kg of cargo. Additionally, bombs, cannons, and rockets can be mounted on hardpoints under each wing. The airframe can handle +6/-3.5 G loads.
