The Dutch Defence Helicopter Command will present the ultra-modern NH-90NFH helicopter in the static park at the International Sanicole Airshow.
The crew and helicopter are part of the famous 860 squadron, based at De Kooy. With its advanced avionics, powerful engines, and innovative design, the NH-90 has revolutionized maritime operations operations since its introduction to the Dutch fleet. They primarily performs maritime helicopter tasks with the NH-90NFH. The squadron combats drug trafficking, piracy, human trafficking, arms smuggling and terrorism. It also takes part in search and rescue operations. Thanks to the NH-90 as an on-board helicopter, a ship's commander can see other ships approaching from a great distance. It is also a good weapon system against submarines. Moreover, a helicopter quickly transports equipment and people to places where it is needed at the time.
In addition, the NH-90 is also used as a transport helicopter over land or from amphibious transport ships, for example. Equipped with advanced sensors and surveillance systems, it conducts anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASuW), and maritime surveillance missions. Its versatility allows it to effectively detect, track, and engage naval threats, safeguarding Dutch waters and maritime interests both at home and during international missions.
