Airbus A400M
Come and salute the latest addition to the Belgian air force fleet as it passes over Sanicole during our airshow on 21 & 22 September 2024.
The giant Airbus A400M succeeded the legendary C-130 Hercules and is fast making a name for itself. 8 A400Ms are based at Melsbroek, one of which belongs to the airforce of Luxembourg, and are considered game changers in terms of capabilities offered. They are used for both strategic and tactical transport across the world. It is far larger than the C-130 and can carry bigger and heavier loads over longer distances, and it can do so at higher speeds thanks to its revolutionary Europrop TP400-D6 turboprop engines. The first Belgian A400M arrived with the 15 Wing at Melsbroek at the end of 2020 and the last example arrived on 12 January 2024. The A400M is part of the thorough modernization process of the Belgian air force, enabling it to face any challenge in the future. Recently, the A400M was used for relief missions over Palestine.
This colossus will surely leave a gigantic impression on you too and show you how the Belgian air force is evolving in the 21st century.
